When an array of high tech and bio tech companies ranging from Qualcomm to SAIC approached Intelliscape to help recruit new talent to away from hot spots such as Silicon Valley, Boston and Austin; it wasn’t just the miles of fiber optic cables that would persuade them. Intelliscape used humor and the beauty of the region to open the minds of a young and very bright target audience. Beauty shots are a good way to tap into emotion. It’s not only what is in front of the lens that counts but also what the camera itself is doing. The use of jib arms, steadi-cams and aerial cinematography all add an element of motion to create emotion. Intelliscape has utilized the power of aerials with many setups including hanging out of military helicopters in Saudi Arabia and Westcam mounts on the nose of commercial craft filming the small town of Corona, California.
Sports share some universal emotions that come with winning and losing. Intelliscape utilized the sports theme for a client whose product was the world of laparoscopic surgery from a three dimensional perspective. The inherently clinical visuals needed a little push to add entertainment and get their audience involved early on. So Intelliscape rented out the Lake Ellsinore Storm’s Single “A” ballpark and created a scene between a pitcher and a hitter. By introducing the story of a hitter’s vision first, then leading into critical vision needed by a surgeon, the audience was more relaxed and receptive to learning about the Viking 3-D products. Productivity software company Visibility wanted to wow a large conference audience. Intelliscape was hired to produce a corporate motion picture that used the metaphor of a sinking boat for the executive who spent so much time working in his business he never stepped out to see the big picture. After the lights faded up and the film played out to big laughs, the executive was speaking to the audience when the soaked fisherman came on stage to remind him not to do that any more and use the tools from Visibility. There are many studies that show retention is improved with the use of humor.
